HIGHLIGHTS OF Kolkata to Thailand Tour Package

Places to visit in Thailand

Wat Arun

Located on the west (Thonburi) bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun is a landmark temple in Thailand. Locally called Wat Chaeng, it’s one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok as the architectural design is very different from the other temples you can visit in the Thai capital. The 'Temple of Dawn' is made up of colourfully decorated spires and the temple itself stands majestically over the water.

Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands are one of Thailand's most popular tourist attractions. The clear blue waters, the soft sand, the stunning views make them among the loveliest islands in Southeast Asia. You can reach Phi Phi Don, which is the largest of the islands and the only one permanently inhabited—on a rented kayak or by hiring a small wooden boat to take you here. Perhaps one of the most fun spots on Koh Phi Phi is Monkey Beach, where you'll come face to face with numerous macaques. Beware! These little creatures are ready to steal your lunch. Long Beach is another nice spot on the island and is great for watching the sunset.

Koh Samui

Koh Samui, also called the Samui Island, is the perfect cosmopolitan island set against pristine white beaches. A melting pot of culture it often attracts travellers who love spending time in the simple beachside bungalows or the many luxury resorts.

Thailand’s second largest island is particularly known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves and dense, mountainous rainforest, plus luxury resorts and posh spas.

The landmark of the place is a 12-metre-tall seated Buddha statue. Locally known as Wat Phra Yai, the temple is located on a tiny island connected to Koh Samui by a causeway. Big Buddha Temple sits on Koh Faan, and can be seen at a distance of several kilometres. It is often the first landmark people see when arriving in Samui by air and is one of the most popular Buddhist temples.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is a land of misty mountains and colourful hill tribes. It is a paradise for people with a knack for adventurers. On a trip to Chiang Mai make sure you experience a Thai massage and learn a bit about the scrumptious Thai cuisines by taking cooking courses. A shopper’s delight, one will be bowled over by the variety of handicrafts and antiques. Chiang Mai also boasts of a lively nightlife, and the foodies can indulge in the wonderful cuisine.

Krabi

Lying along the west coast of Southern Thailand, Krabi is among the most impressive towns in Thailand and is home to a population of over 360,000 people. The province is a collection of more than 80 small islands which are popular among travellers and adventure seekers for the cliffs where you can dive into the ocean from, and water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving and a lot more.

You should visit the Iconic tiger temple, one of the most popular temples in Thailand. Try and make it to the top for an amazing view. Book an inexpensive spa experience with Dhara Massage and Spa, get an elephant ride, plunge into a jacuzzi, be part of a river rafting race, explore the food market at night or hop on to a songthaew and get around to the amazing locations on the outskirts of the Krabi town.

Phuket

Located in the Andaman sea, home to exotic beaches, high end resorts and spas, top-notch cuisine, the city of Phuket is your go to place if you love adventure sports and water. The capital of the Phuket province, Thailand, the city of Mountains is the largest part of Thailand and earlier was one of the major trading routes between India and China.

With limestone rock formations jutting out of the emerald green sea, Phang Nga Bay in Phuket is famous the world over for its natural beauty. Explore Phang Nga Bay's distinctive feature is the sheer limestone karsts that jut out of the emerald-green water in speed boats. James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are just 2 of the more famous spots in this bay. Coral Island also known locally as Koh Hae or Ko He, is another beautiful getaway destination around 3 km southeast of Phuket.

The city boasts of a mix of cultures derived from Thais, Thai-Chinese, ethnic Malays and even sea gypsies. It has ample opportunities for water sports like snorkelling, diving, canoeing, swimming, sun-bathing, surfing and a lot more, you name it and Phuket has it!

Pai

Everyone knows about Thailand's world-renowned southern beaches but not many know that the vast north is also home to equally breath-taking landscapes and a rugged but beautiful mountainous jungle terrain. The small province of Pai, in Mae Hong Son province, is the perfect place to enjoy the country's natural beauty

Pai has become a favourite among backpackers, and is quite popular among families as well. There is a small walking street market that comes alive every night and an air of cheerfulness as you walk through the tiny town centre. Try the variety of local and Western foods, and visit the nearby Buddhist temples, waterfalls, and the impressive Pai canyon.

Khao Yai National Park

Elephants are one of the most important animals in Thailand, and statues and paintings of them can be seen everywhere you go, including the royal palaces and many temples. Get a chance to see these majestic animals in their natural environment at Khao Yai National Park, among the best national parks in the country.

You can spend days within this park as sometimes a one-day stay isn't enough to take it all in. Camp out at the park and get up early enough to watch the sunrise over the lush landscape. From the moment you step inside the park, you'll feel the cool climates and experience natural wonders. From the panoramic nature views to thrilling hikes and amazing night safaris, there are countless things to do here.

Watch the elephants roaming near rivers, exotic birds of prey, monkeys, and plenty of other tropical creatures that call this park their home. It also features many waterfalls, including the 150-meter-tall Haew Narok and the even more famous Haew Suwat, which appeared in Leonardo DiCaprio's film, The Beach.

Visit Primo Plaza, Khonyok Sheep Farm, and the ChokChai Farm. Make sure to drop by the Khao Yai National Park visitor's center first, which will provide you with maps to help you plan your journey.

Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya, once the most important city in Thailand, offers a magnificent peek into the glory of ancient Thailand. The old palaces, temples, and the haunting ruins of the former capital bear witness to this. It is located only a short bus trip or train ride from Bangkok, making it fitting for a day trip.

Over a hundred wats, chedis, prangs, and thousands of Buddha statues are spread around here. Some unmissable sights include the temple that houses the 12-meter-long reclining Buddha and the tree roots embracing a Buddha head; these are particularly stunning.

Doi Suthep

People say you haven’t truly arrived in Chiang Mai until you’ve been to Doi Suthep Temple. The Mountain was originally called Doi Aoy Chang or Sugar Elephant Mountain, with the summit being high up in the jungle and the first peak housing the famous Doi Suthep Temple.

Perhaps the best-known wat in Chiang Mai, the mountain itself overlooks Thailand's second-largest city. A beloved destination of devout Buddhist followers and travellers from all over the world, Doi Suthep is a spectacle of intricate religious carvings. When you visit the place you will see monks praying, witnessing worship rituals, and a chance to gaze out over the ever-growing sprawl of Chiang Mai city.

Make sure you are carrying a bottle of water and a good pair of walking shoes as you'll have to climb a steep staircase to reach the top of the hill where the temple is. At the base of the stairs, local vendors sell everything from tasty local treats to goods handmade by villagers from the surrounding mountains. You will also find shops selling masks, elephant carvings, and home furnishings, so you can also do some shopping.

Tonsai Beach

With its stunning limestone cliffs hugging sandy coastlines and turquoise waters, Tonsai Beach attracts plenty of climbers all year long. One of the best things about climbing here is that you can just as easily climb solo or find a climbing partner or club once you arrive. You can also take a refresher lesson if you need one.

As the area has many climbing and bouldering schools, the easier routes are often busy, and you might need to queue to get up to the most popular viewpoints. If you're an experienced climber and can get around stalactites, overhangs, and tufa it’ll be easier for you to get the best spots with stunning open views over the bay.

Things to do on your Holiday to Thailand

  • Visit the Grand Palace. Set in the heart of Bangkok, this is probably the most famous attraction here. For as long as 150 years the palace was home to the king, his court, and the entire government of Thailand. This was also the place from where the Royal Mint operated.
  • Indulge yourself and get a relaxing Thai massage. Thai massages are famous all over the world for their unique style. It stretches your body and works on the crucial pressure points.
  • Go shopping in the floating markets of Bangkok. An unmissable experience, these traditionally set up floating markets in boats offer a glimpse into the local way of life. The boats are piled high with all types of shopping items.
  • Watch the Thai village Cultural Show.
  • Pose for a selfie with a tiger at the Tiger Temple. Situated in Kanchanaburi the Tiger Temple is a popular tourist attraction where tigers are raised by the monks. Watch the tigers engaged in their daily exercises and baby cubs as they are fed without any caged bars in between.
  • Catch the Phuket Fantasea show on Kamala Beach. The Fantasea show is an amazing experience and depicts an amalgamation of the traditional and modern culture of Thailand.

Best Time to Visit Thailand

To enjoy the country in the most ideal weather, visit Thailand during the dry season, which for most of the country kicks off in November and lasts through March or even into April and May. An exception here is the Lower Gulf region including the island paradises of Ko Samui, Ko Phangan, and Ko Tao — which is rainiest from October through December.
November through February boasts cool and comfortable weather, with average temps in the low 80s, clear blue waters, little chance of rainfall, and gorgeous scenery that's lush from the monsoon season. This time of year also sees major Thai festivals and the Western Christmas and New Year holidays, so you're looking at Thailand's biggest crowds and highest prices. Time your trip for early November and you might just beat the throngs.
Days get increasingly hot in March and into April, but this is a good time to visit, as crowds become scantier from the November to February peak time. April is also a great time, as crowds reduce, and festivals are plentiful.

The Best Times to Go Scuba Diving in Thailand

Divers and Scuba enthusiasts from all over the world flock to Thailand. Thailand's east coast is suitable for diving all, however for Andaman Sea diving in sites in Phuket, Krabi, the Phi Phi Islands, Ko Lanta, and Khao Lak it would be best to time the trip between November and April when the seas are calm and visibility is also clear. Similan and Surin marine parks are closed from mid-May to mid-October.

Visited Thailand (Bangkok & Phuket) with my family in January 2024 through this tour operating company. They prepared a customised itinerary for us, booked our hotels at both locations and arranged all associated transportation and sight-seeing tours. We had an enjoyable trip. Both hotels were good. The tours and transportation too were good and very well arranged by their local tour partners. They had created an Whatsapp group for close monitoring of our tour, which was very effective and assuring. Many thanks to the Flying Squirrel Holidays team !
