Conjure up the image of a treasure island adrift in the Indian Ocean that used to be a haunt of pirates with white sand beaches, volcanic mountains, Indian temples, colonial houses, rare birds, ebony trees and dolphins! That’s Mauritius for you. It’s a mosaic of Indian, Chinese, French, African, British, Arab cultures with rows of sugarcane fields, waterfalls, outdoor markets and smell of spices wafting through the air!
Personal experiences of our team members have helped to shape this dream holiday. It is filled with with snorkeling and plenty of water-sports, nature walks, horse riding and plain walks that will take you exploring through this unique place with its wonderful variety of people and locale. Mauritius has a wonderful topography that goes much beyond its beaches and our trip will help you discover all of that. Our North Island Tour for instance will take you to the National Botanical Garden of Mauritius, sugar estate and museum, tour of Port Louis, and the Black River Gorges. The South Island tour will take you to crocodiles and giant tortoises, tea plantations and Hindu temples. The Ile aux Cerfs is a paradise for water sports and has one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius. We recommend a ride on yachts or “pirate-ships”, a hop onto a speedboat, sky diving and an exciting submarine trip to see the bottom of the ocean.
The food here is unique as well – rice or flat breads (chapattis/roti/paratha) and curries or biryani. Snacking on the streets is recommended; try the gateaux piments (literally, chilli cakes), vegetable/meat samosas (puffs), or octopus curry in bread. Variations of the French ragout and gateaux are also available. If you are adventurous, go ahead and try roasted wild boar, duck or deer curry! Mauritius is a bit upscale, but we can pack this luxury to fit your pocket perfectly
