From dramatic savannahs to the Great Rift Valley, experience Kenya’s rich tapestry of greens with close encounters with the Big Five in our fantastic eight day-seven night’s journey across Nairobi, the Aberdares, Lake Naivasha, Lake Elementaita and the great Mara. This holiday is a delight for keen photographers and wildlife enthusiasts with spectacular scenery unfolding at every stop as you travel the vast open plains and the rolling hills and scour the wilderness for the majestic animals.
Your holiday begins with an overnight stop in Nairobi, after which you drive to the Aberdare Highlands where you have an out-of-the-world experience at the Ark Lodge that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and a salt lick, which offer perfect snares for a host of wildlife. The hotel is designed to emulate the biblical ark of Noah. It has four viewing decks with lounges and a balcony for excellent game viewing as the zebras, elephants, gnus (wildebeest), and even the odd lioness and the cheetah who come for their daily fix in these water holes.
Next we take you to the Ol Pejeta Conservation area, crossing the equator in Nanyuki. Afternoon game drives in the conservation area and a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary are some of the highlights of the day. In this trip you also get to drive into the Great Rift Valley and spend some time on the shores of Lake Elementaita, including a visit to the Nyahururu's Thompson Falls.
The trip moves into the next phase as you drive to the great Masai Mara for game viewing and a visit to the dormant volcano Mount Longonot. The visit to the Masai Cultural Village, interaction with the local Masai warriors, their families and children are a great joy in this trip. In Mara you will get to view nature’s greatest wildlife spectacles. Her plains are commonly dominated by an incredible variety of mammals. From large herds of herbivores which include the wildebeest, zebra and Thompson’s gazelle to the famous “Big Five”, there is also the chance of seeing drowsy crocodiles sunbathing on the riverbanks, waiting to strike at their prey with lightning swiftness. The region also provides habitat for a variety of birds and many smaller species of animals such as the dik-diks, bat-eared fox, caracals, baboons, monkeys, and warthogs.
The final stop is Lake Naivasha, a freshwater Lake, where you take a beautiful boat ride and enjoy the wonders of nature. You depart from Nairaobi, busy and bustling as ever, and bring back with you memories that last a lifetime.
