TBILISI – MTSKHETA – UPLISTSIKHE – BORJOMI (180 KM)
Check-out post breakfast for transfer to Borjomi. En route, visit the former Georgian capital, Mtskheta. Visit Jvari church above the river valley and Svetitskhoveli cathedral also known as the spiritual centre of the country.
Next, discover the ancient cave town, Uplistsikhe. The city was built in the 4th century BC. Located in the Kvemo Kartli Region above the tracks of the old silk route, situated at the bank of the Mtkvari River. Originally, Uplistsikhe – translated as “the fortress of the lord”, was built by pagans as a holy city.
Have lunch in the town of Gori, the birthplace of Stalin and continue to Borjomi.

BORJOMI – ANANURI – GERGETI – KAZBEGI (260 KM)
Check-out post breakfast and continue towards the mountains to reach Kazbegi
En route, visit Ananuri Fort at Jinvali Lake. Ananuri was a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The castle was the scene of numerous battles. In 1739, Ananuri was attacked by forces from a rival duchy, commanded by Shanshe of Ksani and was set on fire. The Aragvi clan was massacred.
Continue to Kazbegi to reach Mt. Kazbek. Hotel check-in on arrival
Enjoy a jeep tour up to Gergeti Church. It is a hilltop church located in the mountains of Kazbek. This church towering in the mountains echoes the surrounding snow-capped mountains and was built in the 14th century. Due to its remote location, during the dangerous period of war, some important relics and objects of the ancient capital Mtskheta have been brought here for safekeeping. Enjoy a walking tour of the Fortress of King Erekle II located in Telavi. A fortress with towers, inside which is actually a house-museum, where the king grew up
Next, visit a local family business that produces Qvevri which are huge clay vessels traditionally used for winemaking
Enjoy a farewell dinner with Georgian wine and Grappa. A nickname for grappa is “firewater”. Made with wine leftovers, it is closer to tequila than grape juice in its powerful aroma and taste
